S. Michele Blanchard, Curriculum Chair, Leadership Northshore
Managing Member, Airey Blanchard Law Office and All American Title Agency, L.L.C.
Class of 2013
Welcome to Leadership Northshore where we transform community minded people to become community stewards and leaders. The curriculum was designed by Dr. Joan Archer, and is rich with learning experiences that empower participants to discover their potential, explore social issues, build transferable skills, and create positive social change in the community in which we live, work, and raise our families.
Whether you are an educator, small business owner, manager, member of a nonprofit, community leader, or are committed to helping others we hope this program will meet your needs if your quest is to become a leader and a community steward.
Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new where others may not see potential. Leadership is about setting a course where you need to go to "win" as a team and empower others to help achieve community goals. We look forward to you joining our next class and seeing your dynamic, exciting, and inspiring change as you become one of our next graduates and community leaders.
Warren Montgomery, District Attorney
Class of 2008
Leadership Northshore has been very helpful in my professional development in many ways. First are the Leadership programs that remind us what all leaders intuitively know: Teamwork, cooperation and listening are essential to leadership. The group exercises presented in the leadership program emphasized, developed and expanded those attributes. Second, the interaction with other community leaders from different backgrounds, experiences and interests, but with the common goal of strengthening St. Tammany Parish, both encouraged and motivated me. It helped me realize that leaders are “agents of change”, that we will be misunderstood and often opposed by the status quo, but with perseverance we can make a positive change. Finally, Leadership Northshore gave me access to people and organizations so that I learned more about our parish, institutions and government. Leadership Northshore has been instrumental in my service as District Attorney!
Class of 2009, President
Leadership Northshore was the driving force that helped me get acquainted with the community as a whole after taking over the CEO position at the Chamber. Since that time, I have felt it is extremely important to support the chamber staff through the process of getting into the basics of what St. Tammany has to offer through the Leadership program. I highly recommend this program to anyone wanting to grow with the region.
Randy Smith, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff
Class of 2008
As a graduate from Leadership Northshore in 2008, it helped me develop an understanding of community outreach, networking, resourcing, and volunteerism. It also helped me get elected in 2010 as the Slidell Chief of Police and as the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff in 2016. Leadership Northshore has helped me in such positive ways that I will continue to sponsor a representative from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Department each year to attend such valuable training. This is very positive from me, the department, and the community we serve.
